Each winter hundreds of bald eagles return to the salmon rich rivers of Northwest Washington State to join a resident population in search of vital nutrition. These images are captured primarily on the Nooksack and Skagit Rivers as they search for spawning salmon. Sitting through the dull and wet months with freezing temperatures and passing snow showers, following the rivers into the foothills of the Cascade Mountains Range, tempers often flaring as a precious carcass is claimed by hungry competitors.
